Hospitable has launched an automated trip insurance upsell that allows STR hosts to earn commissions when guests buy travel protection.
After booking, guests are automatically offered trip insurance and can add coverage at any time up to 24 hours before check-in. Guests purchase coverage within the portal, and hosts earn a commission on each policy sold.
Hospitable says commission payouts are handled automatically, and the company also manages all of the insurance policies, claims, and guest support, so hosts are not involved in any of those steps. Early results show an average commission of about $19.80 per policy, with some single purchases generating up to $190 in earnings.
The company describes the rollout as a way for hosts to earn additional income without adding tasks to their workload. Unlike traditional insurance add-ons that require manual setup or third-party coordination, the upsell runs entirely in the background once enabled.
The launch is part of a broader effort from Hospitable to turn the guest portal into more than a communication tool. Over the past year, Hospitable has expanded the guest portal to support revenue, security, and protection features, with trip insurance now added to that mix.
The trip insurance upsell is currently available for U.S. based properties managed through Hospitable with plans to expand to more markets in the future.
