The private car transfer service Airbnb began piloting earlier this year is now officially live. Starting March 31st, guests in over 125 cities across Asia, Europe, and Latin America can pre-book a private car between their listing and their airport or transport hub directly in the Airbnb app.
The service is powered by Welcome Pickups, a transfer provider operating across major global destinations. During the pilot, which ran across Europe and Asia earlier in 2026, thousands of guests used the service and gave it an average rating of 4.9.
How It Works
After booking a stay in an eligible city, guests will see the option to schedule a car service in the Trips tab. For arrivals, there's a meet-and-greet option where a driver waits at the arrival location with the guest's name. For departures, the driver picks up directly at the listing. Guests can view and change their booking details within the app.
Cities like Paris, Bali, and Mexico City are included at launch, with more planned throughout 2026. North America is not part of the initial rollout.
Host Impact
This is a guest-facing feature. Hosts don't need to do anything, and there's no host compensation or involvement tied to the service.
The launch is part of Airbnb's broader Services expansion, which started in May 2025 with categories like private chefs, personal training, and spa treatments. Private car transfers are the latest addition.
Airbnb's chief business officer Dave Stephenson said the company plans to keep expanding Services with "more helpful offerings, and this is just the start." Hosts in eligible markets may see smoother guest arrivals as a result, but there's nothing to opt into or prepare for.
