Airbnb is testing a private car transfer service that includes airport pickups in select cities across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The company confirmed the pilot on February 23rd.
CEO Brian Chesky first mentioned the pilot during Airbnb's Q4 earnings call on February 12, saying the company was testing "new services like grocery delivery and airport pickup to make each trip better from the very beginning." An Airbnb spokesperson confirmed the pilot is running in those regions but did not provide specific cities, pricing, or a rollout timeline.
Part of the Airbnb Trip
The airport transfer pilot is the latest addition to Airbnb's services expansion. In 2025, the company relaunched Experiences, introduced photography and private chef bookings, and expanded hotel listings. Then in January, Airbnb launched a grocery delivery partnership with Instacart in Phoenix, Orlando, and Los Angeles.
These launches are part of what Chesky calls "the Airbnb Trip," a vision where the app becomes a full-service travel platform. During the Q4 call, he said the idea isn't "just building a bunch of stand-alone businesses," but creating "one app and one brand, where every part of the trip makes the other parts stronger."
Analysts expect the push into services will eventually include flights. Reports that Airbnb was exploring a flight product surfaced as early as 2016, but the pandemic shelved those plans. Competitors Expedia and Booking Holdings already offer car services and flights. Booking reported a 37% jump in airline ticket sales in Q4 2025, driven by its "connected trip" strategy launched in 2019.
For hosts, the car transfer pilot doesn't change operations. Unlike the Instacart program, which pays hosts $25 per order to receive and stock groceries, airport pickups are guest-facing only. And for now, the airport pickup service is only being tested outside of North America.
