Like everyone else, I too had so many problems with monsterhosting... First of all, set up was problematic. Like others I had the same experience of getting excuses for three weeks until my domain and hosting was finally set up. Everything seemed ok until I ran a security check on our supposedly 'secure' site, and found that the SSL was not properly implemented and allowed the certificate to be 'spoofed' by hackers. I contacted MonsterHosting, and after a few weeks of more excuse-making, they told me I was out of luck and that they weren't going to implement any security patches - even though it means that ALL the 'secure' sites on MonsterHosting aren't really secure at all.
I demanded a refund and was told, basically, too bad - they only give refunds within 30 days. They have since cancelled my hosting and never issued any refund. Nice people to work with, eh? Well, it gets better...
I wanted to take legal action against these false advertisers, so I checked their address on their web site. Well, guess what? Monsterhosting's "office" address is Gary Jones' apartment in Surrey BC. That's Monsterhosting's "office". If I had known that my web site would be hosted in some dude's apartment, I would never have gone with them.
So, yes, I have filed a legal complaint but I really doubt I'll ever see a penny back. All I can do is urge anyone looking for hosting to stay far away from Gary Jones and his makeshift kitchen- table "hosting company".
