I have never in my life written a review before but with these cowboys, I just had to. They are absolutely abysmal and I wouldn’t even recommend them to my worst enemy. I initially signed up with them because they were cheap and looked like they had everything that I needed. I will never base my decision on just those criteria ever again. After the year with them and numerous downtimes and page load errors, I received an email saying that if you want to carry on with this service then log onto the system to update your card details. As I didn’t want to continue with this god awful service I naturally didn’t log on to update my card details. It came as quite a surprise that when I checked my card balance that there had been a deduction from ‘UKHost4U’. Apparently you are put on a recurring payment method and are charged each year whether you like it or not. This was not exactly what was put in the email and when I questioned it with them I just got a reply along the lines of ‘tough, you should have cancelled it’. So now I am in my forced second year with these charlatans and things have went from bad to worse. Along with the usual downtime expected with them, I have had to put up with emails taking, on average, 12 hours to be delivered and not being able to send any emails for the last week and counting.

I work in I.T. programming websites and windows programs and would say I have a decent knowledge of the technologies used. I tested sending emails from one internal account to another and they arrived instantly. I then sent emails to 4 different external accounts, to yahoo, gmail, hotmail and my work email, and all of them took over 12 hours to be delivered. When I contacted support and received an answer, it was ‘the receiving parties fault and are holding up the mail’. Mmm, I can send mail instantly between each of the external accounts but when I use UKHost4u suddenly it takes 12 hours and their answer is that it is the other mail providers fault i.e. google and Microsoft’s??!! I then done a test by sending a mail to gmail every hour with the time sent in the subject. Then 12 hours later once they had been delivered, as expected, they all turned up within a few minutes of each other. This suggests UKHost4u backing up and bulk sending mails. When I asked them if this was the case, after several no replies, I just got the standard, cannot replicate line.

This all happened when they upgraded, without telling you that is, IIS from 6 to 7. But still not their fault. Then I couldn’t even send any mails at all, I just kept getting an error. Again I contacted support and 4 days later, after me contacting them numerous times in between, I got a reply back stating that they cannot replicate the error and are ‘only in a position of being able to check our own equipment and not that of a third party’, case closed!!

Also, as someone else said in these reviews, if you ask more than one question in your support ticket, expect to receive a reply to just one of those questions, if any.

Please please please do NOT go with these fraudsters and encourage everyone you know hosted with them to move.

Heres the text of an email I've just sent to UKHost4u - draw your own conclusions....

Hi

I've just got off the phone with one of your call agents. He was unhelpful, rude and has lost you a customer.

I've had an account with you guys for a long time. I hosted a website with you. I haven't used or updated the site for a long time. I now need hosting services for a business I am involved in... My first port of call was going to be you guys. I checked my old website - found it was not available, so called you.

The person I spoke to told me that my account had been suspended and then terminated because I hadn't paid my bill. After questioning him we established that the card I registered with you had expired. For whatever reason I hadn''t received an e-mail from you to tell me that there was a problem. When I asked why I hadn't got an email the guy I was speaking to just started saying "you're account was suspended for weeks before it was terminated - didn't you notice?". When I re-iterated that I hadn't received a mail he raised his voice and just started repeating that my account was terminated. I said that he had an opportunity to resolve this on the phone now - but he just kept repeating that my account was terminated in what I considered a very aggressive way, before he put the phone down on me.

If he had just said that the card had expired but that if I gave him the new details he could re-instate things, I'd have been happy to do that and remain a customer. However, I'll now be looking for a hosting provider that is savvy enough to employ people who don't treat their customers the way I've just been treated. In an economic downturn its hard enough to attract new customers, let alone unneccesarily loose existing customers - I'd strongly suggest you review the levels of service your customer agents are giving and get shot of liabilities like the one I was unlucky enough to have encountered.

I have used UKHOST4U for more than six years and their service is excellent.
As a matter of fact I have recommended it to 4 people (two being small businesses)

Worst web host I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. There is a serious lack of technical knowledge in the organisation, the staff are not customer focussed. I wrote a complaint letter to the owner of the company about the lack of technical support I was receiving and got a reply back which in summary said it is up to me to know about their server and the software they use for the control panal not them. Unbelievable!! Avoid these guys at all costs they are resellers (the servers are based in the USA) and lack the expertise required to be a webhost.

This company should be investigated. They steal your money be taking duplicate payments from your account, and ignore your letters of complaint. I look forward to them being found guilty of theft by the courts.
